Google have announced a new release of Google Analytics called Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

GA4 is a rebrand of the original Google Analytics application, sometimes referred to as Universal Analytics. Universal Analytics has been around since 2013 and with the changing way we use the internet, Google felt it was time to update its website analytics as well. GA4 provides many benefits for newer Web and Mobile apps, which Universal Analytics cannot support.

The change to GA4 is a big one, and the new product is a complete replacement for the old Universal Analytics (UA). UA will stop collecting data on 1 July 2023, and due to the scope of the differences between the two products, it is not possible to move your current analytics data into GA4.

It is recommended to run the new GA4 product concurrently on your website with the current UA implementation, to collect as much data as possible, before UA is turned off.

Born Digital are not experts in SEO; therefore, we cannot setup and manage new GA4 Properties within the Google Analytics product, and we recommend you consult with your SEO Partner around getting this setup.
